Research topic: Genetic and physiological basis of vascular development in plants.
"I love studying plants across scales, from seed germination and dormancy that I studied during my master’s research, to beet vascular biology that I will be exploring during my PhD. I’m especially interested in how understanding the way a plant is built and functions can help us better explain patterns at the population, community, and ecosystem levels. I hope to carry that curiosity into a career as a biology professor and into my own garden. Basically, I want to understand plants from the seed up!"

"My research matters to me because wood, despite being all around us, is often overlooked in everyday life. From the trees that shape our urban and wild landscapes to the materials used in construction, musical instruments, appliances, and household items, wood plays an essential role in our world. What fascinates me most is that every piece of wood contains a record of a plant's history through its additive growth and development, making every single piece of wood a book waiting to be read!"
